01Where is Nha Trang's airport?+
The city has no airport of its own: flights land at Cam Ranh on the peninsula of the same name, about 35 kilometres south of the seafront; the drive takes 45–60 minutes.
02What is the cheapest way in from the airport?+
Bus no. 18, run by Đất Mới and Vinbus, goes from the airport to the centre for 50,000 VND in 50–60 minutes, according to the international terminal's website as of 22.09.2026.
03Is it true that Nha Trang's rainy season is in autumn, not summer?+
Yes. According to the provincial administration, the rainy season lasts roughly from mid-September to mid-December, while February to August is mostly dry and sunny — unlike many other resorts in the country.
04Do I need a visa?+
Visa rules are set nationally and change often, so check your nationality on the Immigration Department's official e-visa portal, evisa.gov.vn, before you book. Local detail: international flights use terminal T2 at Cam Ranh airport.
05What happened to the city of Nha Trang after 2025?+
On 1 July 2025 the provinces of Khánh Hòa and Ninh Thuận were merged and the district level of government was abolished. The territory of the former city of Nha Trang now consists of four wards: Nha Trang, Bắc Nha Trang, Tây Nha Trang and Nam Nha Trang.
06Can I swim off Hòn Mun island?+
According to the bay management board's news for 2026, yes — inside the buoyed zone set aside for visitors and with a guide. The zone was closed in 2022 to let the reef recover, so check the current status on the board's website before you go.
07Which island should I choose for a beach day?+
Hòn Tằm — a resort format with one pier and the VinWonders mud complex, with no boat-to-boat transfers. Hòn Mun is better for snorkelling than for lying on a beach.
08Is swimming in Nha Trang dangerous?+
The city bay is sheltered by Hòn Tre island and is usually calmer than open shores such as Bãi Dài. Swim near lifeguard posts and stay out of the water during storm warnings, especially from September to December.
09Which district should I choose for a first trip?+
The centre by Trần Phú seafront: beach, markets, temples and nightlife all within walking distance of each other. The full comparison of districts is on a separate page.
10Are there international schools in Nha Trang?+
Two are confirmed: AVE Academy with a Cambridge programme in the An Viên area and a branch of the Vietnamese iSchool network. The choice is smaller than in the country's largest cities.
11Where can I get 24-hour medical care?+
Vinmec hospital on Trần Phú street states a 24-hour emergency department. The largest public facility is the provincial hospital at 19 Yersin street.
12Which local dishes should I try?+
Bún cá sứa — a noodle soup with fish cakes and jellyfish that is rarely found outside the city, according to the country's official tourism portal. The full list of dishes is on the food page.
13Do I need a motorbike in Nha Trang?+
Not in the centre: the beach, markets and temples are easy on foot or by taxi. For trips out of town you need either an experienced rider with a valid licence or a car with a driver.
14How much is a taxi from the airport?+
According to the fares published by the international terminal as of 22.09.2026: from 300,000 VND for a four-seat car. An electric taxi booked through the app usually shows the price before you get in.
15Is there nightlife in Nha Trang without clubs?+
Yes: a show at the Đó Theatre, the evening open-top bus along the seafront or the panoramic view from Skylight at sunset — options without a dance floor.
16Are distant beaches such as Dốc Lết worth the trip?+
Yes, if you are ready to spend most of the day on the road: white dunes and clearer water are the reward for the distance. For a short trip the city beach at Trần Phú is enough.
17Can I live in Nha Trang without speaking Vietnamese?+
In tourist areas and chain stores, yes — staff usually understand basic English. In local cafés and at markets a phone translation of dish or product names helps.
18Where can I find the current visiting status of the islands?+
On the website of the Nha Trang Bay management board — it publishes news about the reef and access rules to the protected zone first, before tour operators do.
