Nha Trang stretches along the sea and is divided not by prestige but by distance to specific things: the beach, a market, the pier or the airport. After the 2025 administrative reform the city officially split into four wards — Nha Trang, Bắc Nha Trang, Tây Nha Trang and Nam Nha Trang — while a fifth zone, Bãi Dài, lies outside the city on the Cam Ranh peninsula but belongs to the usual tourist map. Below are five breakdowns and a comparison between them.

Editorial guidance
Nha Trang runs along the coast from north to south; across it you can almost always walk, along it you need transport. The Cái river separates the north from the centre, mountains close in from the west and Hòn Tre island shelters the bay from the east. Understanding this shape makes choosing an area easier than any ranking.
Since 1 July 2025 the former city of Nha Trang has been divided into the wards of Nha Trang, Bắc Nha Trang, Tây Nha Trang and Nam Nha Trang within the merged Khánh Hòa province. The composition of the first two is confirmed by the wards' official portals; for Bắc and Tây confirmation is partial — their history pages would not open, so we rely on the addresses of specific places.
Bãi Dài formally belongs to none of Nha Trang's four wards: it is a separate resort zone on the Cam Ranh peninsula, closer to the airport than to the seafront. We include it in the comparison because many trips to the city actually begin and end there.
This page only states what is where. If you need to decide which area suits your purpose — a holiday, work or a move — the next step is the page on choosing where to stay, where the comparison is built around scenarios rather than the map.
Before you go
Check which ward an address belongs to — old names still appear on maps.
Allow extra time for trips between north and south: the whole centre lies between them.
Plan separate logistics for Bãi Dài — it is not a walkable part of the city.
Look at the official addresses of places if you need to know the exact ward boundary.
Quick answers
Officially four wards after the 2025 reform: Nha Trang, Bắc Nha Trang, Tây Nha Trang and Nam Nha Trang. For visitors a five-part division is more practical, with the Bãi Dài resort area outside the city counted separately.
The district level of government was abolished in the 2025 reform, and the city ceased to exist as a separate administrative unit. Its territory became four wards of the merged Khánh Hòa province.
The centre by Trần Phú and the south by the port face the city beach directly. The north also borders the sea via the continuation of the seafront at Hòn Chồng. The west is the only zone without access to the water.
Geographically and administratively it is a separate zone on the Cam Ranh peninsula, not a ward of the city. Guides often include it in Nha Trang itineraries because it is close to the airport and follows the same resort logic.
