Where to stay in Nha Trang: choosing an area for your day
The short answer: Nha Trang is a narrow strip along the sea, and the difference between areas is measured not by prestige but by what you can reach on foot. The centre by Trần Phú seafront gives you the beach, food and transport without taxis. The north by Hòn Chồng is quieter and closer to the Po Nagar towers and the mud baths. The west means big shops and local prices without the sea. The south means the port, the cable car and the road to the airport. Bãi Dài is a resort beach half an hour from the city. There are no rental rates here: we have no dated source for prices.

Centre by Trần Phú
Seven kilometres of city beach, a shopping centre, clubs, Đầm and Xóm Mới markets, the cathedral and the station within walking distance. Bus no. 18 to the airport runs through these streets. The price is noise, dense building and tourist prices.
Bắc Nha Trang ward across the Cái river: the Po Nagar towers, Hòn Chồng headland, the northern beach along Phạm Văn Đồng street, the Đó Theatre. Quieter and more spacious than the centre, but you need transport to reach the seafront restaurants.
Residential streets without the sea: Lotte Mart on 23/10 street, the GO! hypermarket, Long Sơn Pagoda, I-Resort on the outskirts. A choice for long stays with a motorbike and for those who value daily life over the view from the window.
The cable car station for Hòn Tre, the tourist pier, the Institute of Oceanography and the quiet residential area of An Viên with the AVE school. The avenue to the airport starts here. In the evening it is noticeably quieter than the centre.
A ten-kilometre beach on the Cam Ranh peninsula with resort hotels. The airport is close; the city is within an hour's drive. A format for a seaside holiday without city plans, or for the first and last nights of a trip.
Resort hotels on the island opposite the city with the VinWonders park next door. You reach the city by cable car or boat. It is a world of its own: convenient for families, inconvenient for those who want to explore Nha Trang.
For a long stay what matters is not the view but the hospital, supermarket, school and a dry flat in the rainy season. These addresses with official sources are collected on a separate page.
After the 2025 reform, addresses show a ward instead of the city. If a listing says Bắc, Tây or Nam Nha Trang, check the distance to the sea on the map: the names sound alike but daily life differs.
Find the row with your main purpose — it usually decides the choice.

Editorial guidance
Not just a list. A clear way to choose.
01 · Geography
A strip city between mountains and bay
Nha Trang stretches from north to south along one arc of beach. The Cái river divides it into the centre and the north, mountains close in from the west, and Hòn Tre island shelters the city from the east. So the main question when choosing accommodation is where on this strip you will be and how many minutes it takes to reach the sea, a market and the pier. Across the city you can walk; along it you can't.
02 · The reform
New names in listings
Since 1 July 2025 the territory of the former city has been divided into four wards. Nha Trang ward is the centre by the seafront, the port and the bay islands; Bắc Nha Trang is the north with Po Nagar and Hòn Chồng; Tây Nha Trang is the west with the big shops; Nam Nha Trang is the south and the airport road. Listings use both the old ward names and the new ones.
03 · Season
In autumn choose dryness, not the view
From mid-September to mid-December the rainy season runs, peaking in October and November. For a holiday this means that being close to indoor options — markets, shopping centres, mud baths — matters more than the front line. For a long stay it means checking a flat for ventilation and damp, and skipping a ground floor in a low-lying street.
04 · Airport
An hour's drive changes the logic of the trip
The airport is about 35 kilometres south and the drive takes 45–60 minutes. If you land at night or leave at dawn, consider your first or last night at Bãi Dài. Staying in the south of the city puts you noticeably closer to the terminal than the north: you don't have to cross the centre and the bridge over the Cái.
Before you go
Check four things for an easier day.
01
Mark your accommodation, the beach, a market and the pier on a map — and count the walking route, not the straight line.
02
Check which ward the listing's address gives and where it really is.
03
In autumn ask the owner about damp, ventilation and street flooding.
04
For an early departure, plan a night at Bãi Dài or a transfer with an hour's margin.
Quick answers
Frequently asked questions
Where should a visitor stay on a first trip?+
In the centre by Trần Phú seafront: the beach across the road, markets, the cathedral, cafés and tour pick-ups nearby, and the airport bus runs through these streets. The downsides are noise and front-line prices.
Which area is quieter?+
The north by Hòn Chồng and residential parts of the south such as An Viên. There is less nightlife and heavy traffic there, but also fewer restaurants within walking distance.
Is it worth staying at Bãi Dài?+
Yes, if the goal is the beach and the hotel and you only need the city a couple of times. The beach is long and gently sloping and the airport is close. If you want to walk the seafront and try local food every evening, the drive soon gets tiresome.
Why don't you list rental prices?+
We have no dated primary source for rates. Figures from chats and listings go out of date quickly and depend heavily on the season, so we compare areas by purpose and suggest checking the price in person.
Where to stay with children?+
Near a beach but not above the clubs: the north by Hòn Chồng, the southern part of the seafront or the resorts of Bãi Dài and Hòn Tằm with ready-made infrastructure. Check that there are lifeguards on the nearest stretch of beach.
What to choose for a month or longer?+
A ward with a supermarket and a market nearby and a clear route to a hospital. Often that means the western wards or the residential parts of the north and south. The addresses of hospitals, schools and shops are collected on the page for residents.
