Nha Trang for the long term: what the facts confirm
This page is not about rental prices or visas: the first change faster than they can be published, the second are the same for the whole country and depend on your passport. Here is what official sources confirm as of 21 September 2026 for a long stay in Nha Trang: how addresses are written now, where to go with health problems, where to shop and which schools exist.
Emergency care
The private Vinmec hospital on Trần Phú street states a 24-hour emergency department, hotline 0258 3900 168. The 1500-bed provincial public hospital is at 19 Yersin street.

Lotte Mart on 23/10 street is open from 07:30 to 22:00 according to the chain's website; GO! in the Vĩnh Điềm Trung area from 7:00 to 22:00 according to the tourism centre. Both are in the western part of the city, away from the sea.

Since 1 July 2025 documents show one of four wards instead of the city of Nha Trang — Nha Trang, Bắc, Tây or Nam Nha Trang — plus Khánh Hòa province. This matters for leases and residence registration.

The 2025 administrative reform changed how any local address is written. For a holidaymaker it's a detail; for someone living here, daily practice.
A new province
Since 1 July 2025 Khánh Hòa and Ninh Thuận have been merged into a single Khánh Hòa province: 8555.86 square kilometres, more than 2.24 million residents, 65 commune-level units — 48 communes, 16 wards and the Trường Sa special zone. The district level, at which the city of Nha Trang used to exist, is gone.
Four wards instead of a city
Nha Trang ward was formed from the former Vạn Thạnh, Lộc Thọ, Tân Tiến, Phước Hòa and Vĩnh Nguyên: 47.12 square kilometres and 136 thousand residents, including the bay islands. Nam Nha Trang was assembled from Phước Hải, Phước Long, Vĩnh Trường, Vĩnh Thái and Phước Đồng. The north and west became the wards of Bắc and Tây Nha Trang.
Open details →What it means in practice
Leases, residence registration forms and delivery waybills now state the new ward. Organisations have already switched to the new form: Lotte Mart writes Tây Nha Trang, for example, and the Institute of Oceanography Nha Trang. The old names still appear on maps and signs.
Visas and registration
Visa rules, the e-visa and the registration of foreign residents by their host are nationwide topics without local specifics; the entry rules for your passport are on the Vietnam basics page with links to the official portals. The one local point: each ward has its own portal on the khanhhoa.gov.vn domain with the administration's contacts.
Open details →Medical care
We describe only institutions with official websites and do not assess the quality of treatment. Insurance covering Vietnam remains an essential part of a long stay.
Vinmec Nha Trang
A private general hospital of the Vinmec chain on Trần Phú street in Nha Trang ward: eight floors, more than 25 specialities including paediatrics, obstetrics, surgery and dentistry. The website states a 24-hour emergency department and intensive care; hotline 0258 3900 168.
Khánh Hòa provincial hospital
A first-category public hospital at 19 Yersin: 1500 beds, four centres, twenty clinical and eight paraclinical departments, and it accepts emergency patients. The phone number on the official website is 02583.822.175. The main facility for complex cases in the province.
Pasteur Institute
A research institute on the seafront, known for its Alexandre Yersin museum. The institute publishes a list of medical services for the public on its website ipn.org.vn; we have not checked specific services or prices, so we don't describe them.
Open details →How to prepare
Save the addresses of both hospitals in Vietnamese on your phone, your insurer's assistance number and your blood group. Ask your insurer in advance which city clinics it has direct billing with. Vietnam's emergency ambulance number is 115.
Groceries, markets and daily life
The city's everyday map is simple: big shops are west of the sea, markets in the centre, small items near home.
Lotte Mart
A supermarket at 58 23/10 street, opened in 2016; 13 thousand square metres, hours on the chain's website 07:30–22:00. The widest choice of household goods and familiar packaged food.
Open details →GO! Nha Trang
A hypermarket with a mall, a cinema and a children's area in the Vĩnh Điềm Trung area. The provincial tourism centre mentions more than 28 thousand product lines, about 95 percent of them made in Vietnam.
Open details →Co.opmart
A store of the cooperative chain at 2 Lê Hồng Phong in Nam Nha Trang ward — handy for those living in the south. The chain's page gives no opening hours; check on site.
Open details →Markets
Đầm is the big central market in a round building, open from 5:00 to 18:30 according to the tourism centre. Xóm Mới on Ngô Gia Tự is smaller and closer to the residential streets of the centre: fresh seafood, vegetables, simple food. Go in the morning for fish.
Open details →Shopping centres by the sea
Nha Trang Center at 20 Trần Phú covers cafés, a gym and a bank in one building by the beach. For everyday shopping it is more expensive than the western hypermarkets, but convenient if you live on the seafront.
Open details →Schools, children and the rhythm of the year
The choice of schools for a foreign family in Nha Trang is small, and not everything mentioned in chat groups could be confirmed on official websites.
AVE Academy
A school with a Cambridge programme from primary to IGCSE and teaching in English; three campuses in the southern An Viên area. The website mentions twelve years in the city. Ask the school directly about admission, fees and available places.
iSchool Nha Trang
A branch of the Vietnamese private iSchool network with a programme from kindergarten to upper secondary and a focus on international integration. It is not a British or American school but a Vietnamese curriculum with strengthened English — check the language of instruction by subject.
What was not confirmed
We did not open the official websites of other schools described as international in this phase, so we don't list them. Before moving, ask a school for its licence, programme accreditation and a trial day.
The rainy season as part of life
From mid-September to mid-December the rainy season runs: according to WMO normals November brings about 400 millimetres. For residents that means damp flats, laundry that won't dry and flooded streets. Check a property for mould and ventilation.
Open details →Keeping children busy
The Oceanographic Museum, the VinWonders park on Hòn Tre island, mud complexes with pools, the open-top bus and the calm beaches of Nha Phu Bay — enough for the first months. After that, school clubs and sports classes help.

Frequently asked questions
Why are there no rental prices on this page?+
We have no dated primary source for rental rates, and figures from chats and listings go out of date within weeks. Choose the area with our comparison and check the price by viewing several options in person.
Where is 24-hour emergency care in Nha Trang?+
A 24-hour department is stated on the website of Vinmec Nha Trang hospital on Trần Phú street. The provincial public hospital at 19 Yersin street also accepts emergency patients. Vietnam's ambulance number is 115.
Are there international schools in Nha Trang?+
Official websites confirm AVE Academy with a Cambridge programme and a branch of the Vietnamese iSchool network. We have not yet checked other schools. The choice is noticeably smaller than in the country's largest cities.
Which area is best for a long stay?+
It depends on your needs: the centre by the seafront works without transport, the north by Hòn Chồng is quieter, the west is closer to the big shops, the south to the school in An Viên and the airport road. The detailed comparison is on the page about choosing an area.
How do I get through the rainy season?+
Choose a flat above the ground floor with good ventilation, get a dehumidifier or an air conditioner with a dry mode, and a rain cape for the motorbike. The rainy peak is October and November; from January it is dry again.
Where can I buy familiar groceries?+
The widest choice of packaged and imported goods is at Lotte Mart and GO! in the west of the city. Fresh vegetables, fruit and seafood are better and cheaper at Đầm and Xóm Mới markets in the morning.
Do I need to reissue documents because of the new names?+
We have not seen any general requirement in official sources for foreigners to change documents already issued. The new ward names are used in new contracts and applications; for a specific case ask your ward administration.
