01What it is
Hòn Chồng is a rocky headland in the north of the city; the provincial tourism portal lists it among Nha Trang's main natural attractions, as Chong Rocks in its English version. Huge stones lie on top of one another and descend to the water; from the terraces you see the city bay, Hòn Tre island and the mountains to the north. Nearby, on Hòn Chồng hill, the Oceanographic Museum opened a new exhibition on 2 September 2025, so the visit can be more than a quick photo stop.
02How to plan your visit
Allow an hour: down to the rocks, the views, a coffee at the top. The headland pairs naturally with the Po Nagar towers — both are in Bắc Nha Trang ward north of the Cái river. Further along the shore runs Phạm Văn Đồng street with the northern city beach, where you can go for a swim. The most striking light here is in the morning; towards sunset the sun drops behind the mountains, but the heat eases and there are fewer people on the rocks.
03What to check
We found no primary source with opening hours or an entry price — check on site and don't rely on figures from blogs. After rain and in waves the rocks are slippery: don't climb down to the water and hold children's hands. Wear shoes with a grippy sole; flip-flops fail on granite.
Before you goCombine it with Po Nagar in one morning: it's a short ride between them and the heat isn't a problem yet.
