01What it is
Bến tàu du lịch Nha Trang is under Ban Quản lý Vịnh Nha Trang — the Nha Trang Bay management board under the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment. The board has a piers and tourist services unit which, in its own description, ensures the reasonable, safe and efficient operation of the piers, monitors the public posting of passenger fares and collects parking fees. The same unit also runs the Phú Quý inland waterway pier in the Vĩnh Trường area.
02How to plan your visit
If you are going with a tour, the operator will bring you to the right jetty; remember the vessel's name and hull number. If you are hiring a boat yourself, go to the ticket offices and the fare boards, not to the touts at the entrance: the posted price is your main argument. Arrive half an hour early: in the morning dozens of groups board at the same time. Nearby are the Institute of Oceanography with its museum and the cable car station.
03What to check
Before boarding, make sure there is a life jacket on board for everyone, including children's sizes, and that the boat is not overloaded. Ask exactly where the route goes and whether swimming is allowed there. When a storm warning is issued, departures are restricted — the decision is made by the authorities, not the captain.
Before you goPhotograph the fare board and your vessel's name before departure: that settles most disputes on the way back.
