Long Sơn Pagoda
The city's main Buddhist pagoda, with a white Buddha on the hill, stands at the start of 23/10 street. For western residents it is the nearest sight and a landmark.

West of the station the city stops being a resort. Along 23/10 street and around it lie residential blocks, schools, workshops and the two main supermarkets. There is no sea here, but there is what ordinary life needs. Official addresses in this part of the city now belong to Tây Nha Trang ward.

There is no promenade and no tourist menus here. The morning starts with street breakfasts and neighbourhood markets, workshops and offices run during the day, and in the evening families drive to the supermarket as an outing. For a newcomer it is a chance to see the city without its resort wrapping and to pay for coffee and lunch what the neighbours pay.
You can't see the beach from here, so you go there deliberately — early in the morning or for sunset, by motorbike or taxi. Groceries, the pharmacy, repairs and children's classes, on the other hand, are close by. The I-Resort hot springs are nearer than from any other part of the city and easily become a weekend habit.
Distances between home, the shop and the sea are not walking distances here, there are few pavements, and 23/10 street is congested. There is almost no English in cafés or pharmacies. Evening entertainment for visitors is minimal. If you are in Nha Trang for a week for the beach, you don't need the west.
The name Tây Nha Trang already appears in the official addresses of Lotte Mart and I-Resort, so the ward covers both the 23/10 street area and the former Vĩnh Ngọc commune in the north-west. We could not confirm the full list of former wards and communes included from the ward's portal: the page on its formation would not open on the day of our check.
Before you go
Judge the ride to the sea at rush hour, not by an empty map.
Check whether there is a market near home: a supermarket does not replace fresh vegetables and fish.
Inspect accommodation for damp — autumn rains are prolonged.
Sort out transport straight away: without a motorbike or regular taxis it is inconvenient here.
Quick answers
Too far to walk; by taxi or motorbike it is a short ride along 23/10 street or parallel streets. At rush hour it takes noticeably longer.
For daily life and budget: more space, local prices, supermarkets nearby. That is how people live who stay for months and go to the sea as an outing.
Long Sơn Pagoda with its large Buddha statue and the I-Resort hot springs. The rest is everyday city life, which is interesting in itself on a long stay.
Lotte Mart is closer to the centre and good for household goods and packaged food; GO! is further out but has a cinema, a bookshop and a children's area. Check both stores' hours before going.
Street and house number, then phường Tây Nha Trang, tỉnh Khánh Hòa — that is how Lotte Mart and I-Resort give their addresses on their official websites.
