01What it is
Bãi Dài means “long beach”. The provincial tourism portal says it stretches for about ten kilometres along the Cam Ranh peninsula: a gentle entry, clear water, fine white sand and, nearby, the Thủy Triều lagoon with coastal dunes. The national portal calls it Long Beach and mentions local seafood restaurants and surfing spots. Much of the shore is taken up by resort hotels; between them there are public stretches with shades and cafés.
02How to plan your visit
Bãi Dài lies between the city and the airport, so it fits well on your arrival or departure day, or as a base for a quiet holiday away from the city. From Nha Trang you go by taxi, rented motorbike or a bus towards the airport; for the way back it is better to book a car in advance. The classic plan is a morning swim, a long seafood lunch at a beach restaurant, another hour by the water and a return before dark.
03What to check
Find a public access point on the map in advance: at the hotels the way to the water is closed. In restaurants ask the price per kilogram and the weight before cooking. The shore is more exposed to ocean swell than the city beach — in autumn and winter there can be surf and rip currents, so swim only where there are lifeguards.
Before you goFlying out in the evening? Check out in the morning and spend the day here: the airport is closer from here than from the centre.
