01What it is
Hòn Miễu is on the list of bay islands on the provincial tourism portal and lies inside the marine protected area. The English version of the portal mentions the Tri Nguyen aquarium on the island — a long-standing attraction built in the shape of a stone ship. The island has a permanent population, fishermen's houses and fish cages. We found no recent official information on the aquarium's opening hours: the portal page is dated 2009, so treat it as a geographical reference rather than a listing of what is on.
02How to plan your visit
Few people go to Hòn Miễu on its own: usually it is a short stop on a group bay tour together with Hòn Một or Hòn Tằm. If you want to go here specifically, arrange a boat at the tourist pier, where the operators' fares should be posted, and agree the waiting time. Two hours on the island are enough: walk through the village, look at the fish cages, eat seafood. Swimming is secondary here.
03What to check
Before the trip, ask the operator whether the aquarium is open and whether it is part of the programme: information online is contradictory and often out of date. Confirm there are life jackets for every passenger and ask about refunds if the trip is cancelled because of the weather.
Before you goIf your goal is the underwater world, the Institute of Oceanography museum on the shore is a safer bet: it is run by a state institute.
Access, opening hours and prices can change. Confirm the conditions right before you pay or leave.
