01What it is
The provincial tourism portal calls Vân Phong the largest bay in Khánh Hòa: about 503 square kilometres, with an average depth of more than ten metres and over thirty in places. Peninsulas and islands shield the bay from the sea, so the water here is calm and clear. At the same time it is an economic zone with port and industrial projects, so postcard views sit next to fish farms and construction sites. Dốc Lết beach lies on the southern edge of the bay.
02How to plan your visit
There is no independent public route around the bay. The options: a trip to Dốc Lết with views of the southern part of the bay, a drive further north to Đại Lãnh along highway QL1A, or a local agency tour to the islands and fishing villages. Boats can be hired in the villages on the shore, but without an official pier with posted fares you have to negotiate the terms yourself — this is a trip for experienced travellers with time to spare.
03What to check
We have not confirmed specific islands, crossings or prices from primary sources, so we do not name them. If you book a tour, ask for the company name, licence, type of boat and life jackets. Plan the trip for the dry season and allow the whole day: the drive from the city takes a good while each way.
Before you goDon't try to fit the bay into half a day: better one whole day in the north, with Dốc Lết as the main stop.
Access, opening hours and prices can change. Confirm the conditions right before you pay or leave.
