Acclimatising by the sea
First day, the centre
The beach, the cathedral and a first evening on the seafront.
calmon foot in the centre
in rain, swap the beach for a shopping centre
don't plan active trips for the first day after the flight

A week adds a second trip out of town — to the Dốc Lết dunes and Vân Phong Bay — and a full day without a programme. It is the first plan that clearly balances “see everything” and “get some rest”.
don't put the two long trips back to back; keep an active or calm day between them

Third day, the sea
Snorkelling at Hòn Mun, the beach on Hòn Tằm.

if the boat trip is cancelled, swap with day 4

A trek along the stream to three pools, swimming in fresh water.
active, full daya taxi or a car with a driver
in heavy rain, stay in the park's lower area with the pool
leave early — the whole route takes most of the day
Sixth day, the north of the province
White dunes, turquoise water and a view of Khánh Hòa's largest bay.
active, full dayHeading to the north of the province past the Hòn Khói salt fields.
More about this place →a taxi for the day or a car with a driver
in the rainy season, swap for a closer beach or a spa day
this is the plan's most distant trip — don't combine it with anything else
Seventh day, free
A day without a fixed plan: the beach, a favourite café and the evening seafront.
calmon foot in the centre
if you are more tired than usual, swap everything for the mud baths and an early night
don't plan anything that requires a long drive on this day
Before you go
The centre and the northern ward beyond Hòn Chồng are separated by the Cái river, and crossing between them takes its own slot in the schedule rather than happening “on the way”. Plan the centre and the north for different halves of the day, not mixed together.
Part of the bay is a marine protected area, and the visiting spots at Hòn Mun have changed even in recent years. Don't put the island day at the start or end of the trip, so there is room to move it.
Ba Hồ, Yang Bay, Dốc Lết and Hòn Bà lie 25 to more than 60 kilometres from the seafront, with no public transport to them. Plan each such day in full, one direction per day.
From mid-September to mid-December, peaking in October and November, keep outdoor and sea days flexible. In this period it makes sense to put the city and spa at the start of the plan, and the islands and mountains where there is a spare day to move them.
Before the trip
The two out-of-town days — Ba Hồ and Dốc Lết — are separated by city and island days, so fatigue doesn't build up. We don't recommend more than two distant directions in a week.
Yes, both are full day trips; choose by interest: Dốc Lết means sea and dunes, Yang Bay mountains, waterfalls and a cultural programme.
After six days with two long trips and an active island day, the body is more tired than it feels in the hot climate. A free day lowers the risk of ending the trip exhausted.
Swap days freely: the city and spa move most easily; tie the islands and long trips to the clearest forecast.
